The Georgia Public Library Service is always looking for new ways to serve its citizens. This often leads to collaborating with other government agencies that are instrumental in improving the quality of life for Georgia residents. One recent collaboration with the Georgia Department of Human Services aims to make essential social services more accessible to Georgia communities.
Thanks to this partnership, a network of social services kiosks has been placed in many public libraries throughout the state. Rather than having to travel to an in-person facility on days they may be working, people who need to use the kiosks can do so whenever the library is open, including weekends.
You don’t need a library card to use a social services kiosk—all you have to do is find a library with a kiosk and get cracking! From the kiosks, you’ll be able to manage benefits like Medicaid, PeachCare, SNAP, and more.
Since the program is new, these kiosks aren’t yet available in every library, so be sure to check the online kiosk finder to find out where to go. The program is likely to expand in the future if it’s successful, so even if your local library doesn’t currently have a kiosk, be sure to check back regularly.
If you’d like to access a nearby kiosk or take advantage of the library’s countless other resources, visit your local library today!
