Contact Your Representative to Oppose SB 74!

As expected, Senate Bill 74 has risen from its slumber, and a new version has been passed by the House Judiciary Non-Civil Committee. This harmful bill will criminalize librarians by removing immunity for public librarians regarding "materials harmful to minors." While the stated goal of protecting minors is a sentiment shared by all librarians, the specific mechanisms of this bill—namely the repeal of the long-standing criminal exemption for librarians—threaten to undermine the quality of education and the personal development of children across the state.

The Advocacy Division has created an email campaign, linked below, with new talking points reflecting the updated bill language. Emails or phone calls made through this campaign will go to the House Floor Leader as well as your Representative. As a constituent, it is especially important that they hear from you!
